One year from now, you can pack your bags and head to the University of Southern California for your first year of college. Thirty exceptional students will have the opportunity to trade home room for a seminar room, a room at home for one in a campus residence hall, and another year of high school classes for a full year of college courses. If you have a proven academic performance, a passion for learning, an insatiable curiosity and a spirit for adventure, why stay in high school another year? Get a jump on your life and start your college career now.
The Resident Honors Program (RHP) accepts students who have the social and emotional maturity to function independently as college freshmen. Interested students should have a record of success in high school such as honors and AP or IB courses, summer programs, special talents in music, cinema, or the performing arts. We want students who have been able to balance scholarship with leadership; who have been active in their school and in their community.
In USC's Resident Honors Program, you will engage in a comprehensive educational experience - an experience specifically designed to broaden your academic horizons, hone your writing skills, and promote critical thinking. The nucleus of the Resident Honors Program is USC's nationally recognized Thematic Option Honors Program. Thematic Option Core courses break down boundaries which separate disciplines and teach students to appreciate the relationships between literature, history, philosophy and science. The core curriculum is built around small courses, taught by many of the University's finest faculty, and writing classes, which include biweekly, one-on-one tutorials.
In the Resident Honors Program, you can take classes in over 100 different academic and professional degree programs. While majoring in anything from Cinema to Engineering to Philosophy to Neuroscience, you can also take courses that prepare you to enter law school, medical school, or graduate studies. You can even work with your advisor to create your own unique degree program. All students are invited and encouraged to take advantage of USC?s vast resources, from our accessible faculty to our numerous campus events, organizations, and overseas study programs. While living in a small community with other exceptional RHP students, you'll be part of the quality and tradition that make USC a leader in higher education.
