The LA-Osaka Comparative Urban Studies Program is a joint project between the University of Southern California (USC) and Osaka City University (OCU) to conduct research and provide interdisciplinary training for graduate students in global and Pacific Rim urban development and transnational cultural studies, with a particular focus on historical social geography, economic geography, and the built environment. Founded in 2002 with CIBEAR funding, the project supports two-way graduate student and faculty exchange between the two universities, joint research, a web site, and seminars and publications.
