| What
was once the Florence Mills Theatre and Cuco Video is now a vacant building. The outside
of the building reflects it's age, with "ghost"' signs of both the
Florence Mills Theatre and Cuco Video still apparent. The portion of the building that has
been boarded up is used as a space for advertisement, including publicity for music,
movies, and political endorsements and issues. PANORAMIC VIEW OF JEFFERSON BLVD. AND CENTRAL AVE.

The
Florence Mills Theatre was a prominent night club during the 1930s and 1940s. It was one
of eight theatres along Central Avenue that serviced the local community. Jesse the "Marathon Man" recalled that it
was at the Florence Mills Theatre where he was arrested for the first time and that many
prominent African American celebrities frequented. For example, he remembers the
kind of excitement that Duke Ellington and a young Sammy Davis Jr. brought to Central
Avenue. Ersey O'Brien, another gentleman that was born and raised in the community also
recalls the "hype" surrounding the Florence Mills Theatre, for further
