The USC Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE) is the first university center of excellence funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

  
      Dr. Terry O'Sullivan discusses with Bell High School students how bioterrorism is a public health sector issue more than it is a military issue.
 

Supported by USC CREATE's outreach initiative, high school students learn about public health issues, and how more far-reaching public health policy is critical to homeland security.

Terry O'Sullivan, a postdoctoral research fellow on staff at CREATE, discussed risk factors and surge capacity with students from Bell High School, Franklin High, and Los Angeles High as part of multiple CALIS case class series held in Summer 2005.

  
 
In the High School Case Teaching Initiative, partner teachers prepare a class of students to attend case classes at USC. Professors conduct a case discussion and follow-up at the next session in the series with responses to webboard posts by students.
