Degree Requirements

The 30 unit degree structure of the MPW offers a major concentration of 18 units in the genre areas of Fiction, Poetry, Non-Fiction, or Drama-TV-Cinema, leading to a final full-length manuscript of publishable quality. Included is a required core course, MPW 900, "Survey Of Professional Writing," which emphasizes writing clarity and the aesthetics of the various genres.

The remaining 12 units consist of electives from the writing curriculum including such courses as Writing Humor, Technical Writing, and The Literary Marketplace.
