Site Coordinator
Each school participating in the America Reads Literacy Project will have a Site Coordinator responsible for coordinating the program on that campus and guiding the work of 20-30 work-study students. Site Coordinators will report directly to the Program Manager of the Literacy Corps located in the JEP House. It is a position requiring leadership, strong managerial skills, and good interpersonal communication abilities.
Responsibilities of the Site Coordinator include:
- Maintaining communcations with the School Principal or his or her designate regarding the progress of the program;
- Communicating with individual teachers regarding the placement, tasks, work performance, and evaluation of university students;
- Participating in the development and presentation of training of students;
- Placing students with teachers and monitoring student work to insure compliance with the literary guidelines;
- Working with students to resolve problems, identify resources, and to promote the development of tutoring skills;
- Insuring that student time on the site is well used;
- Helping to develop, collect, and make available materials which will improve student efforts to tutor/teach community youngsters;
- Maintaining time sheet control;
- Running bi-weekly staff meetings on site;
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Must be eligible for work-study and one or both of the following:
- Experience in administration, supervision, and/or program development;
- Experience in working in urban communities, preferably in urban school;
