New Course Unveils Women's Role in Islamic Society

The course will also look at how Westerners and non-Muslims view women in the Islamic tradition. It will examine certain stereotypes that exist, and students will attempt to see practices such as hijab veiling from the perspective of Muslim women. The course will also look at Muslim women today, including contemporary issues Muslim women who live in a modern world face. Finally, toward the end of the semester, students will learn about various branches of Islamic feminism today.
