Religion and Peacekeeping in the Balkans

Please join the discussion of the role of religion in Balkan politics, peacekeeping and the recent declaration of independence in Kosovo with Dr. Ismail Bardhi and Dr. Robert English. Dr. Bardhi is the Dean and Professor at the School of Islamic Sciences in Skopje, Macedonia. He received his diploma at the School of the Islamic Sciences in Sarajevo, Bosnia, and doctorate at the University of Ankara, Turkey. He is the author of several publications in his native Albanian language. He has been a leading participant in the dialogue between major churches and religious communities in the Republic of Macedonia. Dr. English is an Associate Professor of International Relations at USC. He is teaching and doing research on Russia, the former USSR, and Eastern Europe, with a focus that ranges from general issues of regional relations to specific questions of ethnicity, identity, and nationalism.
