History

Jan Andrew began her career in print and electronic journalism in Detroit, Michigan as both a political reporter for a suburban daily newspaper and the co-producer and host of a local PBS-TV affiliate weekend news how called "Rap Up".

She left the mid-west to start her publishing and public relations career at Simon and Schuster, Inc. in New York. She later joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association's national headquarters as a writer, before turning to freelance writing.

Ms. Andrew has authored several books, including Divorce and the American Family (Franklin Watts) and Grandma's Kitchen (Contributing Editor, Firestone Press), and was a stringer for the Business section of Newsday. She ended her career in New York as a senior public relations executive with Barbara J. Hendra Associates, Inc., handling national accounts for clients in entertainment, publishing and business, including the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, best-selling author Paul Erdman, Andy Grove of Intel, Schramsberg Vineyards and Sierra On-Line.

Ms. Andrew made the leap into Southern California community relations and public affairs in 1989 when she joined Braun Ketchum Public Relations. She joined Weisman Hamlin Public relations (WHPR) as a partner in 1993.
