Application and Enrollment
Step One: Visit Us
Preview tours for parents are scheduled in advance at the University Park campus and at the Health Sciences campus. For University Park programs, telephone (213) 743-2446 or e-mail upckids@usc.edu, to make a reservation for a tour. On the Health Sciences campus, telephone (323) 442-3333 or e-mail hsckids@usc.edu. The tour begins with an information session. The information session will include an overview of our philosophy, program guidelines and descriptions, as well as time to answer your questions. We will then take you on a walk-through of the indoor and outdoor facilities.
Step Two: Application
After visiting us, the next step is to complete an application form for the program in which you wish to place your child. You will need to give us a date when you wish your child to begin enrollment and pay a nonrefundable $100 application fee at the time you submit the application. Enrollment begins on the first or the 16th of each month. Expectant parents provide their due date and an enrollment date at least six weeks after their due date. As part of the application process, you also will complete a child care subsidy eligibility form to provide us with the information necessary to confirm your eligibility for the university subsidy.
When we have received your application and application fee, your child will be placed on a waiting list for available space. Families with children already in the program are given priority for available spaces.
For families with twins or other multiple births, one $100 application fee is due when the applications are submitted and any other application fees will be due when the spaces are offered and accepted.
Step Three: Enrollment
You will receive a call from our administrative office informing you when a space is available for your child. We are usually able to let you know 30 days in advance of the space becoming available. If you confirm that you wish to proceed with enrolling your child, we will send you a letter committing the available space to your child. The commitment letter will include an enrollment packet.
The forms in the enrollment packet and the registration fee (one-half the monthly fee) should be returned as soon as possible and must be returned no later than two weeks before your child begins attending the program. The registration fee is non-refundable. Those two weeks give us time to prepare for your child's arrival and begin the orientation process.
