Armed and Unarmed Regulation
Armed and Unarmed Regulation
The Regulation phase of competition for SCIDM will test the decisiveness and “quick thinking” of the drill team commander as well as the drill team.
Upon receipt of the team registration fee, eight (8) drill cards containing eighteen (18) sequential commands will be immediately sent to your team; the cards will also be available for downloaded from the web page. Your team will use these cards to practice with prior to SCIDM. Upon arrival at SCIDM and when it comes time for your team to compete in the Regulation phase of competition, the Head Judge will randomly select one of the eight cards you practiced with, and physically give it to the drill team commander.
After receiving permission to enter the drill pad from the Head Judge (who will be wearing the “Head Judge” badge), the team commander will march the flight onto the pad from the boundary closest to the inspection pad (SEE MAP).
The drill team commander will be three (3) paces from the team and centered seven (7) paces from the Head Judge.
The team commander will then report to the Head Judge and say, “Sir/Ma’am, (name of school) is prepared for the Regulation phase of competition.”
The Head Judge will then tell the commander to come forward and receive the drill card, allowing 30 seconds to read over the card. The commander will be allowed to discuss the card with his/her team during the 30 seconds.
After the 30 seconds has expired, the Head Judge will tell the commander to proceed. Each team will have a time limit of five minutes and thirty seconds (5’ 30”) to complete the exercise. A penalty point will be assessed for each second over the time limit. The team must return to the starting point for time to stop. The drill team must also be centered on the Head Judge.
Time starts when the first command on the card is called and ends when the commander reports out to the Head Judge by saying, “Sir/Ma’am, (name of school) has completed the Regulation phase of competition.”
The commander will return the drill card and exit the drill team from the drill pad and continue to the exhibition phase of competition.
The Regulation drill pad will be 75 ft by 75 ft.
**Note: The team commander may carry and read from the drill card while marching. The team will not be marked down for reading the drill card during the competition. The commander of Armed Teams has the option of carrying a weapon or not.
The following is a list of possible commands appearing on each drill card. All required commands will be limited to this list. Drill team commanders will have to add commands to the sequence when necessary; however, all listed commands must be called to receive maximum credit. Only excessive added commands will cause a point deduction.

Commands and/or movements made outside the perimeter will not be counted in the evaluation. A ten-point penalty will be assessed for each boundary violation, and a three-point penalty will be assessed for each sequence violation. In the event of a boundary violation, the sequence resumes when the team re-enters the drill pad.
