"Feminist International Radio Endeavor (FIRE): Short Wave Radio and Women's Empowerment in Costa Rica"
Jeanne Carstensen spoke about her four year participation with the FIRE which is broadcast in over 100 countries around the world. Her presentation specifically focused on the issue of women's empowerment and the benefits and challenges of targeting a multi-national, multi-lingual audience, using inexpensive, easy to learn equipment.
Jeanne Carstensen participated in the FIRE project from 1992 to 1995 and has served as co-host of the Far Right Radio Review. She has worked as a humans rights and media activist in various countries and currently resides in San Francisco.
