 DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTIES

Gypsum is composed of 79% calcium sulphate and 21 % water.

To reduce the absorptivity of the gypsum it is important to ventilate the spaces during installation.

To avoid or reduce absorption of VOCs from other materials, store gypsum in a well-ventilated area and apply paint or surface treatment as soon as possible, after installation.

 

 

 

 PROS

Gypsum, limestone, clay, talc, and mica are finite resource, but they are in plentiful supply.

 

 CONS

Gypsum absorbs dust and contaminants. It is not very cost effective to recycle it.

 

 RECOMMENDED USES

Heat and ventilation accelerate the drying process and removal of VOCs.These emissions can be reduced considerably by surface treatments such as painting.
