| GYPSUM |
|---|
DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTIES Gypsum is composed of 79% calcium sulphate and 21 % water. To reduce the absorptivity of the gypsum it is important to ventilate the spaces during installation. To avoid or reduce absorption of VOCs from other materials, store gypsum in a well-ventilated area and apply paint or surface treatment as soon as possible, after installation.
|
PROS Gypsum, limestone, clay, talc, and mica are finite resource, but they are in plentiful supply.
|
CONS Gypsum absorbs dust and contaminants. It is not very cost effective to recycle it. |
RECOMMENDED USES Heat and ventilation accelerate the drying process and removal of VOCs.These emissions can be reduced considerably by surface treatments such as painting. |
