- Everyone must have a valid USC library card to check out books. Those affiliated with USC can get a library barcode affixed to their USC photo ID in any library. Those not affiliated with the University should contact the Doheny Memorial Library circulation desk at (213) 740-2924 for more information.
- For library privileges, refer to the appropriate lending code. These are available in paper or on the web
- Student library cards are updated every semester. Make sure your address in the library system is correct.
C I R C U L A T I O N
- Most books in regular stacks may be checked out for 2 weeks. Certain books on the open shelves are designated for library use and cannot be checked out. Faculty and graduate student circulation privileges may vary.
- Materials on reserve (either those placed for a course, or those on permanent reserve) may be checked out for one of the following periods: 2-hour; 3-hour; 1-day; 3-day.
- Books in Locked Stacks do not circulate. These materials must be paged by a full time staff member for use in the Library's Rare Book Reading Room.
- Archival architectural materials may be used only in the Library's Rare Book Reading Room.
- Journals do not circulate outside the library.
- Videos circulate for 3 hours.
- CD-ROMs circulate for 3 days.
- Slides from the Slide Library circulate for 1 day. Refer to the Slide Library Policies for further information about that collection.
- Reference materials do not circulate outside the library.
R E C A L L S . H O L D S . R E N E W A L S
- Books which are checked-out may be recalled by another patron. The patron who has the book(s) will receive a recall notice and must return the materials by the *new* due date. Once the books are returned, they will be placed on the hold shelf for the new patron.
- To renew your books, either call the AFA library at (213) 740-1956, or renew them yourself through "User Services" in HOMER, the University libraries' catalog.
