First Take Home Quiz, 2000

Due: Tuesday, February 8, 2000

Length: 500 words, approximately two pages. Papers significantly longer or shorter will be marked down.

Format: Double spaced, typed. Keep a copy of the paper you submit.

NB: Late papers will be dropped one full grade per day, and will not be accepted under any circumstances after the third day. Read the guidelines on plagiarism in the Chicago Manual of Style, Kate Turabian, or Scampus; plagiarism will result in a failing grade for the class.

Topic:

Was the classicism practiced by Alberti and other Renaissance architects simply the appropriate choice of a model based on the best architecture of the past, or an arbitrary choice? Refer to On the Art of Building and to any buildings you believe will help you make your argument.
