Inside

Career DevelopmentEncouraging the student-athlete to develop and pursue career and life goals. USC Career Planning and Placement Center The USC Career Planning and Placement Center (CPPC) is the one-stop resource for career services on the USC campus. Whether students need assistance with selecting a major, looking for an internship, resume development, mock interviews, or pursuing a professional position, the CPPC is an excellent resource. Each semester, the CPPC hosts a variety of career fairs for students in all majors and disciplines. The CCPC also maintains the "Trojan Network", an alumni database connecting students with alumni to gain information about career fields, companies, and organizational cultures, and the "connectSC", a job database containing listings for full-time, part-time as well as internship, summer, and work study positions. Finally, the career center hosts a variety of networking and informational sessions each week. Student athletes will be awarded 5 points by SAAS for attending any CPPC event. Career Development course All student-athletes will take one career development curse during their sophomore or junior year. Students may choose between PHED 165b, EDCO 248, or any internship class offered through their major or the career center. Students who have a career path in mind are recommended to take an internship course. This course requires the student to participate in an internship while completing the course and focuses on helping students make the most out of their internship experience. Students who are undecided about their major or career plan are encouraged to take PHED 165b or EDCO 248, which allow students the opportunity to explore major and career options while developing networking, resume making, job searching, and interviewing skills. Students will select their course with their SAAS advisor. Employment Opportunities / Internships USC receives numerous requests from employers looking for student-athletes to apply for internship and job opportunities. Most employers know USC student-athletes integrate a commitment to excellence in their daily lives, both in their sport and in the classroom. Students should notify Toni VanEck of their internship and job goals so that she may connect them with potential employers. Internship and job opportunities are also advertised on the Career and Postgraduate Scholarship Board in SAAS. Students should check the board each month for updates. Four Year Plan This 4-year career development plan , created by the Career center, serves as a resource for students while they navigate their collegiate career. It outlines activities, events, and resources students can pursue during thier four or five years at USC.
