Scholarships

SAAS encourages student-athletes to take advantage of their opportunities to secure scholarships both as undergraduates and as postgraduates of USC. The following are a list of scholarships students can apply for, including an updated list of current scholarships available. For specific help or assistance, please see your Academic Counselor in SAAS.


Yearly Postgraduate Scholarships

I. Pac-10 Postgraduate Scholarships
Each spring, the Pac-10 awards four $3,000 scholarships per institution (two men and two women) to be used for graduate study. Academic and athletic achievements are weighed equally.

To qualify:

  • Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Competed in their final year of athletics eligibility
  • Must begin their graduate work within 3 years of receiving the scholarship

II. NCAA Postgraduate Scholarships
The NCAA awards 58 scholarships to student-athletes who have excelled both academically and athletically (29 Men and 29 Women). The award is a one-time grant of $7,500 for students who are seriously considering graduate study or who have already been accepted into graduate programs.

To qualify:

  • Must have a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA

  • Competing in or finishing their final year of athletics eligibility

  • Be seriously considering graduate study

  • Deadline to apply is May 5, 2006

I. FREEDOM FORUM SPORTS JOURNALISM SCHOLARSHIP

Summary: The Freedom Forum through NCAA provides eight $3,000 sscholarships to college juniors who have career aspirations in sports journalism and major in journalism or have experience in campus, sports journalism. This program is designed to help fulltime students in their final year of study.

  • Students must be a junior at the time of applying

  • Must be a student at an NCAA member school (USC is one)
