ICPC13

Jerusalem, Israel (July 1995). Chairman: Prof. Eli Breuer

A goal of this meeting was to have a strong representation of the biomedical aspects of phosphorus chemistry. In addition to a general bio-organic/medicinal chemistry session, sessions were devoted to:

Computational phosphorus chemistry
Inorganic phosphorus chemistry
Coordination chemistry
Flame retardants

As in previous ICPC' s, the major portion of the conference consisted of contributed presentations in various aspects (synthetic, structural and mechanistic) of organophosphorus chemistry. Minisymposia included:

Biologically active bisphosphonates
Phosphorus related abzymes
Nucleotides
Phospholipids
Biological applications of P-31 NMR spectroscopy
Phosphorus containing NMDA antagonists
Inositol phosphates
Phosphorus-containing agrochemicals

The proceedings (plenary lecture, oral presentations, long poster abstracts) were published in 1996 in volumes 109-111 of Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements (Gordon & Breach, Publishers).

ICPC12

Toulouse, France (July 1992). Co-Chairmen: Profs. Guy Bertrand, J-M Majoral

The conference was concerned with many aspects of phosphorus chemistry:

Phosphorus in organic synthesis.
Structure and reactivity of organic phosphorus compounds.
Chemistry of phosphorus compounds with unusual coordination and bonding.
Biochemical aspects of phosphorus chemistry.
Inorganic phosphorus, new materials.
Phosphorus and transition metals.
Physical methods and theoretical chemistry applied to phosphorus.

Besides the usual topics discussed in previous conferences, emphasis was placed on phosphorus biochemistry, calcium-phosphates, condensed phosphates, polyphosphazenes and industrial applications of phosphorus.

The proceedings (oral presentations, long poster abstracts) were published in a special issue (vol. 74) of Phosphorus, Sulfur and Silicon and the Related Elements (Gordon & Breach, Publishers).
