Specifically, Audrey was awarded first place in the undergraduate poster competition, Simin and Kelvin tied for second in the graduate poster competition and Ashley won first place for her presentation! Simin, Kelvin and Ashley are all third year Chemical Engineering PhD students and Audrey is a senior Chemical Engineering undergraduate.

Hong and Brian accepted positions at Intel, Matt accepted a position at Cercacor, Shehzad accepted a position at Cisco, and Bradley is starting graduate school at Northwestern.

November 2010: Prof. Armani receives the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) from President Obama. This is the highest honor given by the US government on early career professionals (professors and members of other research communities) and is accompanied by additional funding to support research in the Armani Lab. The White House press release and the USC press release.
November 2010: Congratulations to Carol Soteropulos for winning first place in the Undergraduate Student Poster Contest and to Ashley Maker for winning second place in the Graduate Student Poster Contest at the Annual Mork Family Student Symposium. Carol is currently a senior Biomedical Engineering major, graduating next month, and Ashley is a first year Chemical Engineering graduate student.
October 2010: Congratulations to Maria Chistiakova for winning an Honorable Mention in the Optical Society of America’s After Image Contest. Her award-winning photo is shown to the right and is published in the November 2010 issue of Optics and Photonics News.
