Return to CHEPA - SummerTIME Program Information - Senior Application - Junior Application - Application Recommendation
Project Description
CHEPA is pleased to announce plans for our 7th Annual SummerTIME program. The program will provide a unique opportunity for college-bound seniors to improve their writing skills, prepare for the transition to college, and engage in pre-college enrichment programs.
Purpose & Goals
The purpose and goals of the 7th Annual SummerTIME program are two-fold. The primary goal is to provide advanced instruction in college writing to college-bound seniors from low-income schools with high populations of students of color. The secondary goal is to supplement instruction in college writing with information related to transitions to college. High school juniors planning to apply to a 4-year college or university in the fall of 2008 (their senior year), will also be consider for this summer's program.
Program Objectives & Outcomes
To meet these goals, we propose the following program objectives and outcomes.
- Increase students’ expository writing abilities
- Improve students’ grammar and language capabilities
- Increase students’ ability to serve as a self-editor and evaluator of the work of others
- Provide students with resources and tools for transitioning from high school to college
