Professional Experience:
From September, 1990 to October, 1994:
Author of the non-linear analysis of contraction
joints behavior under self weight, thermal and reservoir loads for the
Talavacchia 77 m high arch dam in Italy.Consulting services for the preliminary
design and analysis of the Panamericana 130 m long and 21 m wide bridge
over the Piura river in Peru. Three bridge alternatives, founded on piles,
were studied: 4x32.5 m precast, pre/ poststressed girders with continuous
cast-in-place deck slab; 2x40 m + 50 m continuous cast-in-place, prestressed
concrete box girders and 2x65 m steel box girders.
Project manager and participant in design
of the Information System for monitoring of the Bajina Basta dam: Bajina
Basta 90 m high hollow gravity dam; Lipovica 20 m high and Spajici 24 m
high arch dams; Lazici 59 m high and Kruscica 32 m high earth fill dams
and hydrotechnical tunnel 7956 m long. The system includes about 3000 time
histories of the instrument records and over 70 digitized drawings. The
computer program is written in C and it uses the relational data base ORACLE
for storing and retrieving measurements.
Chief structural engineer and participant in
design of the Final and Detailed Design for the Tichi Haf 90 m high arch
dam in Algeria. Special structural provision is applied at the weak right
abutment to improve support conditions. The dam is under construction.
Participant in finding a solution for the foundation
on a swelling material of the Trecephanou potable water treatment plant
in Cyprus. Chief structural engineer and participant in design of the Final
and Detailed Design of the G. Milanovac waste water treatment plant with
capacity of 600 l/sec, in Yugoslavia.
Chief structural engineer, construction superviser
and participant in design of the Final and Detailed Design of the Gorina
potable water treatment plant with capacity of 840 l/sec, in Yugoslavia.
Chief structural engineer and participant in
redesign of the appurtenant concrete structures for the Final and Detailed
Design of the Alavian 76 m high fill dam during its construction on the
Soufichay River in Iran.
Chief engineer
for the Final Design of the seismic, strong motion instrumentation of the
Bajina Basta consisting of three concrete and two earth fill dams. Responsible
dam engineer for the Feasibility Study of the Binational Puyango-Tumbes
Project in Ecuador and Peru. The project consisted of : Marcabeli 193 m
high concrete dam and Cazaderos 138 m high concrete dam with power plant
and appurtenant structures.

From September, 1988 to September, 1990:
Chief
structural engineer and participant in design and the Final Design for
the shaping, static and earthquake response analysis of the Ostour 160
m high arch dam located on the Ghezel-Ouzan River in a strong, active seismic
area in Iran.
Chief structural engineer of
the Planning-Report for the concrete and steel structures of the Mandava
80 m high fill dam on the Zub River in Iraq.
Chief structural engineer and
participant in preparation of the Final and Detailed Design for the concrete
and steel structures, including the under ground power plant of 6x265 MW,
during construction of the Bekhme 235m high fill dam on the Zub River in
Iraq.
Responsible engineer and participant
in design of the stilling basin final structural design for the
Buk Bjela 120 m high arch dam in Yugoslavia. The hydrodynamic pressures
are applied as a spatial and time variable load.
* From September 1984 to September 1988:

Doctoral studies at University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles.
Defended dissertation with title: "Earthquake Response of Arch Dams to
Nonuniform Canyon Motion", July 1988. The dissertation is considered as
a pioneering work in the related field.

Development of the finite element computer programs for automatic static
and dynamic analysis of dams.

Development of the computer program for seismic waves propagation across
a canyon of arbitrary shape.

Development of the mathematical model and computer program for transient
pressures in hydrotechnical tunnels during strong earthquakes.

Teaching assistant for the advanced courses during eight semesters of the
doctoral studies: Earthquake Engineering Foundation Engineering, Finite

* From February, 1981 to September, 1984:

Responsible engineer for the Final structural design and analysis
of the Foca gravity dam including power plant on the Drina River in Yugoslavia.

Consulting services in finite element modeling and responsible engineer
in the Final and Detailed Design for various concrete structures for the
Haditha 70 m high fill dam on the Euphrates River in Iraq. The dam was
completed in 1987.

Responsible engineer for the inspection of structural components and stability
assessment of the Poechos Dam in Peru after El Nino rain fall in 1983.
The system was operating under full capacity discharge for a longer period
of time.

Participation in monitoring and responsible engineer for the estimation
of the vibration effects for the Bajina Basta pumped-storage power house
in Yugoslavia. The vibrations are induced by two reversible units 2x315
MW operating under head of 600 m.

Participated in design and the Final Design for the Sir 116 m high arch
dam on the Ceyhan River in Turkey.

Participated in design and the Final Design for the Duzkesme 80 m high
arch dam and Berke hydro power plant with 150 MW of installed capacity
in Turkey.

Participated in design and the Detailed Design for the Lipovica 20 m high
and Spajici 24 m high arch dams of the pumped-storage scheme Bajina Basta
in Yugoslavia.

Responsible engineer and participant in the finite element modeling of
the various civil engineering structures. Modification and implementation
of different computer programs: SAP-V, ADAP, FLUSH, NONSAP, EATSW, JTROCK,
ETABS, SYNACC, EQRISK, etc.
* From September, 1979 to February, 1981:

Master of Science studies at University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
The studies included nonlinear finite element modeling, structural dynamics,
earthquake engineering and computer aided design.

Author of the university report: "A Post earthquake Response Analysis of
the Imperial County Services Building in El Centro, California, after the
Imperial Valley Earthquake of 1979".
* From January, 1979 to September, 1979:

Responsible engineer of the structural analysis for the Final Design
of the main spillway and of the mounting block (20x27 MW) of the Djerdap
II 32 m high gravity dam on the Danube River in Yugoslavia.
* From June, 1974 to January 1979:
-
Participated on the site and in the Final and Detailed Design with full
responsibility for the various concrete and steel structures during construction
of the 13 km long Poechos fill dam with central part 50m high and with
a deep diaphragm sealing the river section. The dam is located in high
seismic region in Peru, requiring special design considerations.
* From January, 1973 to June, 1974:

Participated at the site in the Final and Detailed Design and construction
supervision of the Piva 220m high arch dam in Yugoslavia. The dam is completed
and impounded in 1976, and since than is in operation.
* From February, 1971 to January, 1973:

Participated in the structural analysis and design of the concrete high
rise buildings and of the steel and concrete bridges.
