Dr. Rahman is currently working as a Consulting Engineer in addition to his responsibilities as a Senior Engineer in Caltrans. He has several years of teaching, research and industrial experience. While working for consulting engineering firms, he was involved with many landmark projects. He was responsible for the design of and specification for the base isolation bearings and dampers for the seismic strengthening of the Los Angeles City Hall. He developed 3-D computer models and designed the vertical and lateral load resisting systems for the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Eiffel Tower II in Los Vegas, and Dryfes and Gates Tower at MIT.
Dr Rahman is an expert in computer modeling and linear and nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of structures. He has worked on several National Science Foundation sponsored research projects and developed computer programs for linear and nonlinear analysis. He published several research papers in the refereed journals and presented many research papers and reports in national and international conferences. Dr. Rahman has over 19 years of teaching experience. For the last 9 years, he has been teaching at USC as a part-time lecturer in the Dept. of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
