Job Postings - Undergraduate students to fill research assistant positions in Summer 2007

The University of Southern California Center for Sustainable Cities is looking for undergraduate students to fill research assistant positions in Summer 2007. Undergraduate research assistants will assist in field research for the Back Alley LA project.

The Back Alley LA project is a collaborative effort of the Center for Sustainable Cities and the Keck School of Medicine, along with several community-based organizations and public agencies. This project considers Los Angeles alleyways, often sites of pollution, crime, and nuisance activities, as a major untapped resource for green infrastructure.

The Summer 2007 project phase consists of fieldwork to examine the physical and use aspects of a sample of alleyways in Los Angeles. Undergraduate research assistant tasks include behavioral observations of alley users, and the use of an alley audit instrument to characterize physical attributes and conditions of alleys. Together, this information will be important in helping the City of Los Angeles develop new designs for its many miles of largely underutilized alleyways. Research assistants will also formally present preliminary research findings at a summer’s end project luncheon.

Research assistant positions begin on June 11, 2007 and end on August 3, 2007.
Workweeks are 30 hours long
The wage is $12.50/hour.

Applicants must be continuing students – students graduating in May 2007 are ineligible.
