What is D-Clearance and prerequisite waivers
D-Clearance stands for Departmental Clearance. If a course name has a "D" after the 5-digit class number (such as 35100D), a D-clearance is required prior to registration. The academic department will enter a clearance for the student to enroll in a particular course after advisement. The clearance will allow the student to register. Prerequisite waivers are required if a student does not have the course prerequisite on his USC records. Prerequisite waivers just like D-clearances must be enter by the Department. If the prerequisite waiver is not entered on the system, the student will be prevented from registering in the course.
