High Performance Computing for Scientists and Engineers

August 5, 1998
University of Notre Dame

A workshop on high performance computing for scientists and engineers will be offered prior to the SSD'98 conference. The workshop is intended to introduce practicing scientists and engineers to the rapidly evolving technology behind modern high performance computing as well as to the software tools available for programming modern high performance hardware.

The morning session of the workshop will consist of a series of presentations providing a broad overview of high performance computing (an overview of topics covered is given below).

The afternoon session of the workshop will consist of a hands-on introduction to parallel computing using the resources of the Notre Dame High Performance Computing Complex and will include programming exercises using OpenMP, MPI, and HPF.

The cost for the workshop is $125. Participants should register for the workshop using the SSD'98 registration form.
