Hi guys: Colts prevailed! We virtually forced ourselves into a "pressure" position and then fought back with sheer grit and determination for a nail biting 2 wicket win over Brittamer in the last ball of the penultimate over. Brittamer won the toss and decided to bat. We did very well to restrict them to 164 for 6 in their 40 overs. Poor fielding in the form of about 4-6 dropped catches didn't help us either. Dr. Cyril Ernest bowled best with 2/20 off his allotted 8 overs. Mervyn Fernando had 2 for 26. Arvin Varma bowled excellently to have 1/21. If not for 3 dropped catches off his bowling, he might have had a 5 wicket haul! Arvin and Mervyn bowled the last 6 overs very intelligently to frustrate Brittamer. Colts started with 8/1, 40/2 and were cruising at 70/2. Ashwin Rao who was shaping up well was run out for 22 (2 fours) and that started the rot. Colts were suddenly 76/7! I joined Arvin Varma at the crease and I believe we took the score to approx. 140. Arvin Varma's sedate knock of 29 (4 fours) valuable runs was indeed priceless. He was beset with cramps and was out bowled when he played a loose delivery onto his stumps. Krishnan Swaminathan joined me and we despite some close calls rattled up the required runs with an over to spare. Swami was not out on 16 (1 four), and I was unbeaten on 33 (5 fours). Venkatesh Kulkarni also contributed before with 20 hard hit runs (3 fours). Ranesh Peiris
