Colts meted out a humiliating defeat to Hollywood in the league
season finale game. Deputing for Ranesh, I lost the toss and we
were asked to field. Although we had only 10 guys for this game, we
were on top very soon as Arvin and Mervyn got early wickets. It was left
to Swami and Aravindan to wipe off the tail as Hollywood bundled out for
a paltry 39 runs. Arvin picked up 3 wickets and Swami got 4. I must say
that the fielding was probably the best in the season so far. Some
excellent catches were taken and the ground fielding was outstanding as well.
A bad leg-before decision victimising Atul and a mistimed slog leading to
Sidharth's dismissal did not deter Colts as Venu and Venky Kulkarni took
Colts home with 34.4 overs left in the 40 over game ! Venky Kulkarni showed
no respect for the Hollywood bowling by lifting the first ball he faced out
of the ground. The victory was like a summary of the performance of Colts
this season. A professional and disciplined approach to the game backed by
lots of talent ! Colts finish the league season with an enviable 14-2 record
and a winning streak of 12 consecutive games.
