Profiles of some of the players of TCC:

Anoop Reddy

Right handed batsman and right handed medium slow bowler.
Plays with a straight bat and is a very cautious batsman. Comes in to bat lower in the order and whenever the team loses too many wickets too fast, he comes to the rescue with some steady batting. Plays remarkably well under pressure. But when he doesn't need to hold his wicket, one sees him hitting sweet sixes. If necessary, he can roll his arm too.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Electrical Engineering.

Arvin Varma

Right handed batsman and right handed medium pace bowler.
Plays with the Colts Cricket Club in the Southern California Cricket Association (SCCA)'s league. An exteremely talented all-rounder. He bowls with a smooth, elegant run-up and with his movement in the air, he's a very difficult bowler to get away. Picked up 22 wickets in the 1996 season. An aggressive lower middle order batsman who loves to cut and pull, he has played quite a few quick, match-winning innings. A sharp mover on the field with a safe pair of hands, he won the best fielder award in the 1996 season. Also happens to be the team's physio.
Graduated with a Masters in Physical Education.

Ashwin Rao

Right handed batsman and wicketkeeper.
Plays with the Colts Cricket Club in the league. Bats at one-down. A cautious and patient batsman who likes to build his innings picking singles. Usually plays the sheet-anchor role for his team. With 3 half-centuries and a trophy-winning century(128), he averaged an impressive 40.9 in the 1995 league season. Scored 4 fifties in the 1996 season. Won two best batsman awards in the Albuquerque tournament.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Computer Science.

Atif Ahmad

Right handed batsman and right handed medium pace bowler.
An aggressive opening batsman who loves to hit on the leg side. A more than useful medium pace bowler who always gets the breakthrough when needed most (the man with the golden arm). In the last game against UCLA, he scored a neat half-century and picked three wickets to help the Trojans win over the Bruins comfortably. On the field, he's a very reliable fielder.
Pursuing a Masters in Computer Engineering.

Deepak Bhole

Right handed batsman and wicketkeeper
He bats high in the order. Although not a big hitter, he likes to play shots on the off-side. Also keeps wickets.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Molecular Biology

Harish Venkatraman

Right handed batsman and right handed pace bowler.
Bats in the middle order. A very exciting cricketer to watch. An explosive batsman who can tear the bowling apart with his big hits. A genuine pace bowler who can bounce the ball a lot using his height. A great asset to the Trojan cricket team. As a fielder, he has a strong arm. Used to play in the Madras league while in India.
Graduated with a Masters in Electrical Engineering and is working in San Jose now.

Monish Shelat

Right handed batsman and Right handed medium-pace bowler
A medium pace bolwer who is tough to play because he can really shoot the ball below the bat. With his low arm action, he keeps the ball down making it tough to hit. As president of the club, he organized several games and helped TCC remain active.
Graduated with a Masters in Computer Engineering(Now at IBM).

Mustafa Saraj

Right handed batsman and right handed medium slow bowler.
Bats in the middle order or lower. He has an amazing ability to perform under pressure. He has an excellent eye and packs a lot of power in his strokes. He can hit all over the ground and take the game away from the opponents all by himself. A medium slow bowler who can vary his length very intelligently. In the Albuquerque tournament, he not only led the team to victory but also won a man of the match and the man of the tournament award.
Graduated with a Masters in Industrial Engineering.

Puneet Sharma

Right handed batsman and right handed medium pace bowler.
Either opens or bats in the middle order. Last season, he played in the Northern California Cricket Association's league as an opener when he was there on an internship. A medium slow bowler with a good change of pace. A very agile fielder with a safe pair of hands. He is the most important reason why TCC is so active.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Computer Science.

Ranesh Peiris

Right handed batsman and right handed medium pace bowler.
Captain of the Colts Cricket Club. Generates a lot of pace in spite of his 3 step run up. Changes his length and pace very effectively to fox the batsmen. Bats lower in the order and plays with a straight bat. His favorite shot is the straight six over the bowler's head.
Currently working as a Manager.

Rohit Joshi

Right handed batsman and Right handed medium slow bowler.
Plays with the San Diego Cricket Club in the league. Mostly an opening batsman. Plays with a straight bat. He has the ability to change his batting style as per the needs. On one hand, he can bat cautiously while on the other, he can hit big sixes. He also serves as a make-shift bowler. A quick mover on the field who has taken some excellent catches last season.
Graduated with a Masters in Chemical Engineering and is currently working in San Diego.

Shivanand Bhajekar

Right handed batsman and Right handed medium pace bowler.
Plays with the Colts Cricket Club in the league. A very difficult bowler to face because of his ability to cut the ball a lot off the seam. Has a good change of pace. Bats lower in the order and with his big hitting and quick running between the wickets, he contributes a lot with the bat too. Sometimes opens the batting. With his enthusiasm and never-say-die attitude, he's a great motivator on the field.
Graduated with a Masters in Electrical Engg. and Comp. Sci.

Suman Mukherjee

Right handed batsman.
Plays with United Cricket Club in the league. An opening batsman who plays with a straight bat. Although he's one of the best batsman in the Trojan Cricket Club, he hasn't had a chance to play for the Trojan Cricket team yet. Has been a prolific run-scorer in the last three seasons in the league. A sharp slip fielder.
Pursuing a Masters in Pharmacology.

Suresh Sivasubramaniam

Right handed batsman and Right handed medium pace bowler
A quick bowler with a smooth,deceptive action. His main weapon is the vicious in-swinger that either keeps low or is yorker length. He's one of USC's frontline bowlers. Bats lower in the order and plays according to the demands of the situation.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Psychology.

Venkatesh Panchapagesan

Right handed batsman and right handed pace bowler.
Plays with the Colts Cricket Club in the league. A stylish and exciting opening batsman. Plays with a straight bat and is delightful to watch. He can really destroy the bowling attack when he gets going. Always gives his team a flying start with his aggressive batting. He had two half centuries in the 1995 league season, one of them being 96 not out, and had two more in 1996. A really quick bowler who moves the ball quite a bit. Used to play in the Madras league while in India. Won a best batsman, a best bowler and a man of the match award in the Albuquerque tournament.
Pursuing a Ph.D in Business Administration.

Venu

Left handed batsman and right handed pace bowler.
Plays with the Colts Cricket Club in the league. A stylish opening batsman who combines classy batsmanship with lusty hitting. Has scored two half centuries and more than 200 runs in only 6 games in the 1996 league season . An extremely intelligent bowler who never allows the batsman to get on top of him. A safe pair of hands with a good throw on the field. He's what you would call a dream all-rounder. A thorough entertainer on and off the field.
