Professor Feakins uses organic geochemical and compound-specific carbon and hydrogen isotopic approaches to answer intriguing questions about climatic and ecological change. An exciting application of this research has been linking compound-specific carbon isotopic reconstruction of vegetation changes with the evidence for faunal and hominin evolution in northeast Africa. Current projects center on the development of hydrogen isotopic proxies for paleohydrology in southern California. more
