Cecilia Sam is a research assistant with the Center on Educational Governance. She began the Ph.D. program in urban education at the University of Southern California in the fall of 2007. Cecilia completed a double major in philosophy and English literature at Loyola Marymount University, and later earned her M.A. in philosophy, an M.A. in education and her teaching credential from LMU. She has been a middle school history and language arts teacher. Cecilia also clerked at a law firm, focusing on educational law and policy. Her interests include educational policy development and analysis in the context of the K-12 system, with a focus on law and ethics.
