Focus Areas
Education Reform
Over the past ten years, there have been several different types of approaches to reforming American education. At CEG, we have undertaken research projects investigating efforts to change education on a large scale, focusing on both school and district level issues and the intersection between them. One significant area of work for us has been evaluating the implementation of comprehensive school reform models. Comprehensive school reform models are externally-developed, whole-school models for change, designed to affect many elements of a school's functioning from governance to classroom practice. A second and more recent area of work for CEG researchers is district-wide reform in urban areas. District-wide reform efforts are those that affect most or all schools in a given system.
