Joanna Smith is the William E. B. Siart Research Fellow with the Center on Educational Governance. She received her Ph.D. in August, 2004 from USC'S Rossier School of Education; the title of her dissertation was, "Working Together to Improve Education: Alliances between Charter Schools and Community-Based Organizations." Jo has worked on numerous charter school studies and is currently the research team lead for the National Resource Center on Charter School Finance and Governance, a 3-year initiative funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
