Priscilla Wohlstetter is Diane and MacDonald
Becket Professor in Educational Governance at the University
of Southern California's Rossier School of Education,
where she also serves as director of USC's Center
on Educational Governance. Dr. Wohlstetter holds joint
courtesy appointments in the College (Political Science
Department), and in the Schools of Architecture and
Policy, Planning and Development. She received her
Masters from Harvard Graduate School of Education and
her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. She teaches
graduate courses on accountability, governance, and
innovations in education. Her research explores the
policy and politics of educational reform, as well
as the relationship between school organization and
improved school performance. She is currently involved
in a project to improve accountability in charter schools,
and another project on charter schools and alliances
with for-profit and nonprofit organizations to improve
the delivery of educational services. Her publications
include numerous articles on the politics, organization,
and effects of school-based management; links between
policy and practice in charter schools; the use of
cross-sectoral alliances to enhance school capacity;
and the development of school networks to improve educational
performance. Recent books include, Taking
Account of Charter Schools (2003), co-edited with Katrina Bulkley,
and Charter School Partnerships.8 Key Lessons for
Success (2005).
