Formerly known as CSI-USC, this comprehensive report on California charter school's performance is in its fifth year of publication and its second year of providing online interactive access to its data. You can evaluate individual schools; compare the performance of multiple schools; review the performance of a single school across several years; or download the entire data set.
New this year: We have created a separate Web site for the Dashboard at school-performance.usc.edu, where visitors have easy access to the interactive version of the Dashboard and to PDFs of this year's and all previous years' reports. USC's Center on Educational Governance still maintains its home through the USC portal at www.usc.edu/cegov/
This year, California is home to 809 charter schools: more than any state in the nation and more than any time in state history. Each charter school is rated on 12 indicators assessing financial resources and investment; school quality; student performance; and academic productivity. For the first time, CEG identifies the state's top 10 charter schools, visible via a new button on the interactive site.
The USC School Performance Dashboard is released annually by the Center on Educational Governance at the University of Southern California. Data are provided by the California Department of Education and, in a few cases, by the individual school districts. Due to slowdowns at the state level, the Teacher Qualifications Index was not available when the USC Dashboard was published. The data will be added as soon as the state provides them.
