Full-Time Special Lecturer
The USC Language Academy is pleased to announce the opening of a full-time faculty position in its Intensive English Program. RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teach a full instructional load (15 hours per week)
• Develop course materials and curriculum
• Participate in curriculum development projects
• Participate in orientation, testing and evaluation
• Keep accurate course records
• Participate in faculty meetings
• Assume responsibility for a program development task (3-5 hours per week)
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED
• M.A. (in hand) or Ph.D. in TESL, Applied Linguistics, or closely related field with coursework in linguistics and English linguistics, culture and society, educational foundations, second-language pedagogy, second-language assessment, and language teaching practicum
• 3 years ESL teaching experience with demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching
• Current active involvement in the field
• Computer literacy
• Native-like fluency in English
• Knowledge of or previous formal study of a second language
PREFERRED
• Overseas teaching experience
• Experience teaching in an IEP and/or EAP at the university level
• Experience in ESL/IEP/EAP curriculum development
• Experience in teaching content or literature-based ESL
• Experience teaching graduate level academic writing and research techniques
• Experience teaching content-based ESL (English for Communications majors, English
for Public Policy majors)
• Experience working with students who have needs at the basic literacy level
CONTRACT TERMS
• 12-month faculty position beginning June 25, 2012 renewable annually, 40 teaching weeks
• $42,000 – 45,000 per year depending on experience (overload assignment for additional compensation also available)

Adjunct Faculty Lecturer (2-5 openings)
The USC Language Academy is seeking adjunct faculty in the Intensive English Program for its summer A & B 2012 sessions:
Summer A: May 15 – June 22, 2012 / Summer B: June 26 – August 3, 2012
To be considered for an adjunct position, the following requirements must be met:
• MA in TESOL, Linguistics, English or closely related field
• 3 years of ESL/EFL teaching experience, including work in university-based program
• Native-like proficiency in English
Other desirable qualifications
• Experience teaching TOEFL iBT
• Experience teaching graduate level academic writing and research techniques
• Experience teaching content-based ESL (English for Communications majors, English
for Public Policy majors)
• Experience working with students who have needs at the basic literacy level
Salary: $47 per instructional hour

Student Worker Positions
The USC Language Academy is always looking for outstanding native English speaking students to assist the staff with all student service matters related to its international students. Duties include facilitating English discussions & workshops, doing clerical, and general office work. Pay rate is $9.00/hr and students should have college work study. Freshmen or sophomores preferred.
