The ETTC works with each company on an individual basis to decide the best approach. For some companies, the ETTC manages the entire Intellectual Property Portfolio , performing everything from marketability of technologies to locating potential licenses. With other companies, we work on a fee for service basis and contract individual activities.

The ETTC had developed a more efficient method of transferring technology with the use of Knowledge mining. This method categorizes commercial markets into multiple industry clusters and attempts to match groups of technologies with these clusters. This "Portfolio Management" approach allows the ETTC to analyze technologies in an effort to find its sweet spot in the market. This is where the point of maximum profitability in the demand curves. This new approach tries to avoid the Cherry Picking technique, which is associated with the act of focusing marketing efforts on technologies with high market value and low market share. Not all technologies call fall into this category, so the ETTC find new markets that was once thought impossible to tap.
