The main body of the
workshop will provide a broad exploration of how digital technologies
allow filmmakers to capture and manipulate images during production
and post-production processes. Topics will include: how the digital
video processing software tools work, types of pitfalls typically
encountered, and levels of training required for advanced digital
filmmaking. Participants will learn how the speaker uses ordinary

video and produce high definition material for theatrical presentation.
Parts of the raw footage
from the Polynesian voyages will be used to illustrate techniques
for shooting footage with inexpensive DV cameras through the process.
After the technical portion of the workshop, the full 35mm version
