Mr.
Sterni is a recent graduate from the University of Southern California.
He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
and is pursuing a Masters degree in Integrated Multimedia. He is
currently a Project Specialist and Webmaster for the USC School
of Engineering Technology Transfer Center (ETTC).
Mr. Sterni is currently
involved in Geographical Information Systems. He current work includes
mapping of incubators in the 8 Western states under a NASA Minority/
Women owned-business grant. The goal of the project was to target
incubators in Federal and State empowerment and enterprise zones
and to target these businesses in technology transfer. The project
involved identifying and locating incubators that fell into these
regions using GIS information of incubator locations and Empowerment
/ Enterprise zones within these states. Mr. Sterni has also developed
other GIS projects including identifying industry cluster areas
in the United States, identifying areas with in the where multimedia
industries are located using National Association of Broadcasters
Industry data, and generating a map of attendee's locations from
a NASA sponsored Conference on Geospatial Applications.
Mr. Sterni has held
an Internet account for more than nine years. He has seen the Internet
from the days before the world wide web develop into the mainstream
infrastructure it has become today and has been researching its
development. He has experience in most Internet technologies from
HTML, JavaScript and ASP to original protocols such as Telnet and
FTP. He has been actively involved in the publication and creation
of webpages at the ETTC, its affiliates and field centers. Mr. Sterni
has taken several courses in web publishing and information organization.
He has consulted on several website designs and has provided technical
assistant to many others. Mr. Sterni has also designed and developed
interactive website, including integration of collecting and retrieving
information, dynamically changing website based on user-inputs and
website that gather information from various resources.
Mr. Sterni has been
an active part in the administration and maintenance of the ETTC
computing infrastructure. He also assisted in maintaining the employee
account for the ETTC, and troubleshooting employee question regarding
software questions and interfacing with the Internet. He has played
an active role in decision making of hardware and software solutions.
He is also the liaison with the University of Southern California's
Information Services Division (ISD) who maintains the overall university
computing and telecommunication systems.
Mr. Sterni is a member
of the Society of Mechanical Engineers (SAE) and a member of the
Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
