The course for the Training of Cross-Connection Control Program Specialists is designed to train those who might be involved in administering a cross-connection control program. Subjects covered in this course include: policies and procedures, rules and regulations, record keeping, public relations, plan checks and site surveys.
The course is ideal for those responsible for a cross-connection control program in their area. Students typically include, water utility personnel, health agency personnel, those from large water using facilities and private contractors.

Students identify possible cross-connections and determine the type of backflow prevention needed
Elements of a program, facilities, site surveys are discussed using the Manual
Continuing Education Units are available to attendees
The week is made up of lectures and guided site surveys
The student is also taught how to plan and conduct an actual site survey of a facility in order to determine which type of backflow protection, if any, is necessary for meter protection.
One morning, the attendees are asked to conduct an actual site survey. They are asked to evaluate and determine the degree of hazard, if adequate backflow protection is present and, if not, what would be necessary to adequately protect against backflow.
A syllabus, the current edition of the Manual for Cross-Connection Control along with all of the necessary educational tools will be provided for each attendee.

Public relations are discussed in order to help student’s effectiveness in explaining the importance of cross-connection control to water users and others.
This course has no prerequisites, however, successful completion of the Tester Course may be beneficial before taking this course.
Upon successful completion of any of the Foundation training courses, including the written and performance examinations, the student is issued a certificate of completion” form the Foundation. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are also available for those attendees attending the Foundation Courses. The Course for the Training of Cross-Connection Control Program Specialists provides 3.7 CEUs.
