Training Training is required for access, and access applications should be submitted prior to attending training, so that your access can be given to you during the training session. Training is conducted only on the new data warehouse.

Access Application form - Financial (For SIS-DW application, contact SIS) For financial data the user must first have WEBBA access, and for SIS data, the user must first have SIS access. Financial users may submit their DW applications to Catherine Maddaford at maddafor@usc.edu, fax 213-746-4567, MC 8003. SIS users must go through the SIS application procedures and request SIS-DW. New access is granted only to the new data warehouse.

WHAT IS THE "NEW" DATA WAREHOUSE?

The Data Warehouse is a web-based data retrieval system, which allows the user to access data in four ways, summary reports that have links to "drill down" to detail, reports that display in spreadsheet format, charts, and tables. All of the report data can be downloaded into a spreadsheet program. There are two types of data sets stored on the Data Warehouse. One is Financial Data, which is the same data that can be viewed from WEBBA, and the other is School Data, which comes from various special databases housed in specific schools or in centralized student databases. Financial Data is selected by general ledger account, and access is tied to the account access that the user has on WEBBA. School data is controlled by the specific data base.

WHO WOULD USE THE DATA WAREHOUSE?

The people who would benefit most from using the Data Warehouse would be those who need to create reports on a frequent basis, using the data supplied by their system of choice.  The advantage to using the Data Warehouse is the ability to access large amounts of data rather than individual inquiries and reports that are available within the host systems.

DATA IN THE DATA WAREHOUSE.

The new Data Warehouse contains the same data that was available in the old data warehouse, but the report capabilities are enhanced and many other features of the system are different. There are also new reports that have been added and are still being added. You cannot create personal views or special report formats on the new Data Warehouse, but you can use the drill down reports and the list reports to search for and download the data you want into spreadsheets.
