SYMPOSIUM ON ORGANISMS WITH SLOW AGING 2 (SOSA-2)

January 17-18, 2003 (Fri-Sat)

The focus of the symposium is on the natural history of aging in long-lived birds and reptiles. Leading researchers from field biology and zoological parks will convene with molecular geneticists. A poster session is planned.

Sponsored by a grant from the National Institute on Aging (AG21002-01)
The Ellison Medical Foundation
& The USC/UCLA Center on Biodemography and Population Health

SOSA 2 will critically examine emerging evidence that some multi-cellular organisms have evolved very slow rates of aging with anti-aging mechanisms that are pertinent to human aging processes.

Limited funds will be available to research trainees (pre-doc or post-doc) to attend. To apply, submit a one-page letter outlining research interests and a two-page NIH Biosketch no later than November 1, 2002 to: University of Southern California, Andrus Gerontology Center, 3715 McClintock Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90089-0191, Attention ETM
