|
| Organization and Functions of the Network: |
|
| The
multidisciplinary group of scientists developing the network are connected
with four of the NIA Demography of Aging (DoA) Centers. The network welcomes
participation of persons connected to additional DoA Centers and from the
community of scientists interested in population health.
The functions of the Network on Measurement of Biological Risk are 1) To develop an interactive network of scientists interested in measuring biological risk for late life health outcomes in human populations 2) To diffuse information on the importance of individual biomarkers including a scientific understanding of the pathways and processes by which health is affected as well as information on risk level and interaction of individual measures of risk 3) To provide information on procedures for collection, storage, and assay of biological specimens 4)
To organize targeted meetings on biomarkers of specific interest or
new methods of collection, assay, or analysis 5)
To encourage sharing of basic information on distributions of biomarkers
in populations of different ages and from different locations |
