Why did you choose to study gerontology at the USC Davis School?
I chose to study at USC because it was the best. And it has continued to be the best after 20 years. The program of study along with the reputation is something that has been consistently excellent for many years. It has made my tuition every every penny.
How did you learn about your current position? Was it through an internship, a previous job, or a connection through USC?
I found my current position on the University of Redlands website.
Please briefly describe how the USC Davis School’s curriculum helped prepare you for your current position.
The curriculum at USC was based (during my tenure anyway) on the entire spectrum of aging. This has enabled me to walk into many different arenas with confidence because I had a basic knowledge of physiology as well as policy. I love the fact that just by mentioning my MSG from USC, I become the resident expert in all settings.
What advice would you offer to a prospective student interested in studying gerontology at USC?
To prospective students, meet as many people as you can, and get their contact information. Soon even octangenarians will know how to instant message and you'll want to hear what they have to say. Just shut up, listen and learn.
