Roseann Giarrusso, Ph.D., is a Research Associate Professor of Gerontology
and Sociology at the University of Southern California and the Project
Director of the Longitudinal Study of Four Generation Families.
Dr. Giarrusso received her doctorate at UCLA. Her research interests
include intergenerational family relations, social psychology, and
sociology of aging and the life-course.
Dr. Giarrusso is also a reviewer for the Journals of Gerontology:
Psychological and Social Sciences, the Journal of Family Issues:
Psychology and Aging, the Psychological Reports, the Journal of
Applied Gerontology, Research on Aging, The Gerontologist, Contemporary
Gerontology, and Sex Roles. She is also a member of the Program
Organizing Committee of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Section
of the Gerontological Society of America.
Her most recent publications include an examination of the stresses
and rewards of grandparents raising grandchildren, and an investigation
of how changes in the occupation and performance of family roles
are associated with changes in self-esteem across the life cycle.
