WISE Senior Services is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Los Angeles County’s senior citizens, especially those who are low0income and/or underserved. Our mission is to preserve and improve the well-being, independence, dignity and self-esteem of seniors, and to prevent premature institutionalization whenever possible. Our team of professionals is committed to improving the quality of life for senior citizens.
 
We are currently seeking the following positions:

Position: Care Manager
Program: Long-Term Care Ombudsman
Locations: Downey, Pasadena, San Dimas, and Santa Monica

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program is currently seeking a candidate to fill a Care Manager position at its Downey, Pasadena, San Dimas, and Santa Monica regions. As Care Manager of the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, the candidate will advocate for the highest possible quality of care and quality of life for residents of licensed long-term care facilities throughout Los Angeles County. The program receives, investigates and resolves complaints made by or on behalf of the residents at nursing homes, assisted living and board and cares. Care Managers provide continuing community presence through visits to assigned long-term care facilities in the region. The ideal candidate will posses excellent organizational and communication skills and has the ability to interface well with all levels of staff and with the public.

BS Degree in gerontology, human services, social science or a related field and 5 years experience in gerontology, social work, and long term care advocacy or related areas. Masters Degree preferred. Candidate must be computer literate and have reliable transportation.

CALL FOR POST-DOCTORAL TRAINING APPLICATIONS

DEADLINE: Dec 1, 2005

The NIA Training Program in the Neurobiology and Endocrinology of Aging has openings for post-doctoral fellowships. Applicants must identify a sponsoring faculty member at USC who will serve as a Preceptor (mentor) in relevant topics to the program theme. The sponsor and applicant must develop and submit a training plan. Required materials for the Post-doctoral position include:

 

Rationale for choice of Preceptor and statement of research interests and training plan related to Biogerontology

Brief statement of career plans.

Curriculum Vitae.

A letter of reference from the proposed Preceptor.

A letter of reference from the applicantÕs prior Advisor (PhD or post-doc)

Two letters of reference from scientists outside the University of Southern California.

Applicant must be a citizen or a noncitizen national (current Alien Registration Receipt Card, I-551) of the USA or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence by the time of the award. Applicants must provide notarized statement of admission for permanent residence prior to award. Temporary or student visa holders are not eligible.
