USC Davis School of Gerontology Host Special Advanced Screening
"Young @ Heart" documentary follows a choral group comprised of members who are all aged 70 years or older.
On Saturday, April 5, 2008 the USC Davis School of Gerontology hosted a special screening of the documentary “Young@Heart” to viewers at the George Lucas Theater.
The film, created by Sally George and Stephen Walker, captures seven weeks in the lives of the members of the Young@Heart Chorus as they prepare for a one night only concert. Based in Northhampton, Massachusetts, the group is made up of two dozen spirited seniors who specialize in reinterpreting rock, punk and R&B classics from a unique perspective.
"This event showcased the multidisciplinary nature of gerontology,” Rachel Caraviello, a Master’s student at the USC Davis School, noted at the close of the movie. “Music and film, coupled with a sensitivity towards aging, made for a fun, entertaining glimpse at the reality of growing old."
Following the screening audience members gathered at the USC Davis School for pizza, refreshments, and conversation.
YOUNG@HEART opens in theaters everywhere Wednesday, April 9, 2008.

Rachel Caraviello, Professor Neal Cutler, Dean Davison, Sarah Zoller, and Stacie Roach enjoy pizza and drinks after the screening.
