Bernard Steinman Receives University-wide T.A. Award

USC Davis School Ph.D. Candidate Wins the USC Center for Excellence in Teaching University Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award

Doctoral student Bernard Steinman has been selected to receive one of the University Outstanding Teaching Assistant Awards for 2009.

Steinman will be honored on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at the Academic Honors Convocation ceremony.  The award will consist of a citation and a monetary award in the amount of $1,000.

Selected from a superb group of teaching assistants who were nominated as their department’s outstanding teaching assistant, his nominating advisor Jon Pynoos, Ph.D., the UPS Foundation Professor of Gerontology, Policy, Planning, and Development, wrote, “Bernard Steinman has been my teaching assistant for three years in Gerontology 340 and 540.  In my almost 30 years of teaching at USC, he has been the most creative, committed and resourceful TA with whom I have worked.  He is commended by students for his enthusiasm and communication skills.  He has taken on the challenge of teaching a blended course, meaning those taught online and onsite, and successfully served both populations of students earning praise from the participants.”
