Maria Henke,
M.A.
Assistant Dean
Maria Henke is currently the assistant dean of the University of Southern
California Davis School of Gerontology. Holding progressively responsible
positions within the world's premiere institution on aging education and
research, she is currently charged with overseeing operations related to the
school. In this role, she maintains all aspects of communication, including
the school's website, print publications, community outreach programs and
recruitment efforts.
With over 20 years of experience in higher education and research, she has
been instrumental in the development of multimedia campaigns promoting
healthy lifestyles, which include the nationally recognized web properties:
homemods.org, stopfalls.org and ageworks.com. Henke also designed the
curriculum for several pioneering distance learning programs in gerontology
at the USC Davis School, including the Online Master of Arts in Gerontology,
the Online Master's in Long Term Care Administration and, most recently, the
Master in Aging Services Management. She has published several academic
articles related to distance learning and senior use of the Internet. Her
experience in aging, marketing and higher education has made her a
sought-after expert in new market gerontology initiatives. Henke received
her M.A. in Communication Management from the USC Annenberg School of
Communication.
