Discrimination Complaint Form

Title IX/Discrimination Complaint Form

The Office of Equity and Diversity also serves as the university's AgeDA Coordinator.

What is Title IX?

Title IX refers to federal regulations which provide that no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity (with certain exceptions) receiving federal financial assistance.

Protected Class Status

The university is firmly committed to complying with all applicable laws and governmental regulations at the federal state and local levels which prohibit discrimination, or which mandate that special consideration be given, on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender, age, Vietnam veteran status, disability, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic which may from time to time be specified in such laws and regulations.

Special protections for employees are also available concerning family care leave or its denial, pregnancy disability or its denial, or retaliation for complaints related to any protected class.

The Office of Equity and Diversity investigates complaints by faculty, staff, students and applicants (for both employment and student admissions) who believe themselves to be harmed by sexual harassment or discrimination and harassment related to issues that have protected class status. The office represents the university to government agencies on those same matters. The Office of Equity and Diversity also investigates Title IX complaints against the university, as well as complaints of retaliation related to Title IX complaints.

Should a complaint of sexual harassment or discrimination and harassment be brought to your attention, it is extremely important that you contact the Office of Equity and Diversity immediately. In order to assure that all complaints are addressed quickly and appropriately, departments may not proceed in any way to investigate allegations of this sort on their own.
