Produces complex printed materials utilizing a variety of word processing equipment and software programs. Provides guidance and assistance to other word processors, may serve as lead on assigned projects. Provides technical assistance and consultative services to staff and/or other departments regarding hardware/software capabilities and applications for word processing.

% Produces a variety of complex documents of a technical or specialized nature requiring comprehensive knowledge of multiple PC software packages and complex applications. Resolves difficult formatting problems.

% Proofs work for completeness and accuracy and formatting. Edits as needed. Determines most appropriate software program for processing.

% Advises other staff members and/or departments on the capabilities and uses of electronic word processing, graphics, desktop publishing and related applications. Assists others in selecting most appropriate software program and applications for project.

% Maintains currency concerning new software programs and applications, new hardware, and related peripheral equipment. Reads industry publications and networks with others, as assigned or appropriate.
Emergency response/recovery:    
In the event of an emergency, the employee holding this position is required to "report to duty" in accordance with the university's emergency operations plan and/or the employee's department's emergency response and/or recovery plans. Familiarity with those plans and regular training to implement those plans is required. During or immediately following an emergency, the employee will be notified to assist in the emergency response efforts, and mobilize other staff members if needed.
